Planning the Trip

Things to keep in mind when arranging your travels

Visa Application (1-3 months before travel date)

Visa is required for Swedish and most European citizens to enter China. We recommend you to prepare for the application at least one month before travel time. However, during the period from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024, Holders of ordinary passports from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia may enter China visa-free for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit for no more than 15 days.

Combine the trip with more locations in China and Asia

We recommend any travel plans in China to be AFTER the Wedding. From the 1st to the 7th of October are National holidays in China. During this time, the whole of China is in essence traveling, causing quite a traffic jam. If you wish to travel to nearby countries the week before it can be good to consider locations with direct flights from/to Chongqing, see this flight map for locations.

Staying in Chongqing

We will arrange the accommodations during the night before and the night of the wedding (Oct 5 - Oct 7). Here are the two options. Let us know your preferences in the RSVP.

Once You're in Chongqing

A few of our favorite things to do in the city to share with you

chongqing-view.jpg

The City View

Chongqing has a unique combination of past and present. From ancient structures such as temples and old towns to modern buildings like shopping malls and skyscrapers, Chongqing offers a nice blend of two worlds. It is also a city in the mountains where two rivers cross at the center of the city.

When the night falls, everything is lit up in the city too, which makes the night view a specialty. Here is a guide of the top options to experience it.

Hongya Cave (Hongya Dong)

Hongyadong is an 11-story, 75-meter-high architectural block located on a steep cliff. It is especially loved by tourists because its architecture is very similar to the building in the animated fantasy film “Spirited Away” by the famous Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki.

The interesting thing is that visitors can enter the 1st and 11th floors by two different routes, and use the elevator to explore each floor, where street food, restaurants, bars, and cafes are arranged in groups.

The Hot Spring

With abundant natural hot spring resources, Chongqing is titled the Hot Spring Capital. There are several high-quality hot springs resorts in and around Chongqing city, where you can enjoy not only the geothermal springs but also accompanying spa treatments and relaxation space.

One spot in the city we recommend is Ronghui Hot Springs. And there are more options within 1-hour drive.

For Panda Lovers

If you or the children love pandas, the Chongqing Zoo is a great place to visit. Built in 1953, Chongqing Zoo covers an area of 45 hectares, making it the largest urban zoo in China. This is the residence of about 230 species of rare wild animals. The most prominent one is the Panda House area with an area of about 2 hectares.
